Your Role:
We are in search of a Principal Technical Writer who excels at converting intricate technical information into well-structured documentation that fulfills customer expectations and contractual obligations for ongoing programs. In this position, you will play a vital role in organizing and refining proposals and whitepapers to guarantee that the content is clear, concise, and effective. You will work closely with engineers and program managers to contribute to proposals and whitepapers while overseeing document version control. This is a hybrid role that may involve limited travel to other STR office locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation for R&D projects, including:
- Technical reports
- Test plans, test reports, and verification documents
- System specifications and interface control documents (ICDs)
- Program plans, proposals, and Statements of Work (SOWs)
- Organize, edit, proofread, and ensure that all proposals and whitepapers adhere to relevant DoD standards, MIL-STDs, data item descriptions (DIDs), and contract specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers and program managers to collect technical content and verify its accuracy.
- Oversee document configuration, version control, and approval processes.
- Assist in Program Reviews (e.g., Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR)).
- Maintain documentation repositories in line with security and records management protocols.
- Edit and standardize documentation for clarity, coherence, and readability.
