About Joist AI
Joist AI is at the forefront of transforming the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry with our innovative technology solutions. Our AI-driven software simplifies marketing and revenue operations, enabling teams to collaborate more effectively, drive innovation, and achieve remarkable success.
Role Overview
We are seeking a talented Platform Engineer to architect and develop the core foundation that fuels our development processes. Your mission will be to streamline operations for our engineering teams by creating a self-service "Internal Developer Platform." You will go beyond mere management of cloud environments; you will treat infrastructure as a product, developing automated workflows and abstractions that empower developers to deploy, scale, and manage their services confidently, eliminating the need for waiting on tickets.
Key Responsibilities
Establish the "Golden Path": Design and maintain internal developer tools and self-service portals that simplify AWS complexities, enabling developers to provision resources independently.
Leadership in Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Spearhead the adoption of modular, reusable IaC components (Terraform/Pulumi) that can be utilized across teams as a service.
Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Advancement: Design high-performance delivery pipelines that incorporate automated security checks, testing, and blue/green deployment strategies.
Standardization & Governance: Develop and enforce organizational standards for logging, secrets management, and networking to ensure uniformity across all microservices.
System Observability: Create an "observability-as-a-service" layer, ensuring that every new service is automatically equipped with appropriate dashboards and alert thresholds.
Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with product engineering teams, assisting them in optimizing their service architecture for the platform.
Qualifications
Experience: 4–6 years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability with a strong emphasis on developing internal tools.
Cloud Architecture Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of AWS services (Lambda, RDS, S3, Step Functions, VPC networking) and secure integration of these services.
Proficiency in IaC: Experience with tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
CI/CD Familiarity: Understanding of automated testing and deployment processes.
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
