Title: Plant Manager
Reports to: Vice President of Manufacturing
Job Purpose: The Plant Manager will oversee all operational processes and performance metrics associated with the daily operations of two Phoenix Stamping Group facilities.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Strategic Implementation for Operational Management:
- Supervise the Production, Maintenance, Tooling, and Material Handling departments to achieve or surpass company goals in safety, quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Act as a champion for the plant's safety initiatives, participating in committees and leading root cause analyses and corrective actions for identified improvement areas.
- Organize statutory training and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Create and manage production schedules that align with customer demand and inventory targets.
- Analyze and influence plant Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics, enhancing productivity and efficiency to improve On-Time Delivery (OTD), plant output, and variable labor costs reflected in the Profit & Loss (P&L) statements.
- Oversee shipping and receiving operations, inventory management including cycle counts, and maintenance of material handling equipment.
- Support the installation of equipment and facility layout projects by coordinating both on-site and contracted resources, ensuring projects are executed on time.
- Conduct audits for compliance with standard operating procedures and process controls to reduce defects and avoid costs related to quality issues.
- Review quality metrics with plant leadership to identify root causes and implement effective corrective measures.
- Regularly assess staffing levels to ensure adequate human resources are positioned to meet current and future production needs.
- Facilitate the professional development and evaluation of Supervisors, Leads, and both direct and indirect labor staff.
- Identify opportunities for operator development and collaborate with appropriate personnel to establish and implement training programs that foster growth.
- Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive 6S principles and visual factory tools, continuously monitoring their effectiveness.
- Stay informed about contemporary operational theories and methods, providing insights to relevant personnel.
- Understand and manage the plant's P&L to influence key accounts, including variable labor and operational expenses.
- Direct the plant's Quick and Easy Kaizen (QEK) program to support quarterly improvement metrics.
Operational Improvement Planning and Support:
- Advocate for Lean Manufacturing methodologies across all production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Utilize data-driven processes to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic changes.
