Your Role as a Physical Security Systems Design Engineer
In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the design and documentation of physical security systems across various facilities within OpenAI’s extensive real estate portfolio. Your responsibilities will involve transforming threat analyses, compliance mandates, and operational requirements into feasible, standards-compliant security designs that are executed by top-tier global integrators.
This position operates at the intersection of architecture, engineering, construction, and security operations, necessitating both deep technical knowledge and practical construction experience.
Location Flexibility
While based in San Francisco, CA, we welcome fully remote applicants from anywhere in the United States. For those in the Bay Area, we provide the opportunity to work from our San Francisco office. Remote employees benefit from robust collaboration tools, comprehensive documentation, and regular in-person engagements.
Expect to travel up to 25% of the time to support the business needs, including site visits for design evaluations, construction assistance, system commissioning, and operational readiness. Travel may encompass both domestic and international destinations to reinforce OpenAI's global presence.
Relocation assistance is available for candidates considering a move to the Bay Area.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
Leading the design of physical security systems for new constructions and retrofitting projects across various facilities.
Creating detailed security floor plans, device layouts, riser diagrams, and system schematics for access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter security.
Establishing and updating security design standards and templates to ensure consistency and compliance.
