About the job
The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) is dedicated to safeguarding and enhancing the well-being of children and families through comprehensive child welfare, juvenile justice services, and community support initiatives. ACS manages essential community-based supports, foster care services, and provides subsidized childcare vouchers, while its child protection staff respond proactively to allegations of maltreatment. In the arena of juvenile justice, ACS supervises detention, placement, and community programs tailored for youth.
Within the ACS framework, the Division of Administration (ADMIN) is pivotal in ensuring that necessary resources and support are available for efficient functioning. The ADMIN division encompasses various offices, including Procurement, Facilities, Personnel, Administrative Services, and Accountability and Audit. Key functions include personnel management, building maintenance, workplace safety, health and security, procurement of goods and services, graphic services, and records management.
As part of ADMIN, the Chief Operating Office (COO) plays a critical role in delivering high-level administrative and analytical support, while also contributing to the development and execution of both short-term and long-term strategic plans for the division. The COO oversees a substantial $75 million Other-Than-Personnel Services budget, ensuring effective management and delivery of operational goods and services, alongside managing a $30.4 million Personnel Services budget for the division's 463 staff members.
We are actively seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Operations Planning Graduate Intern to join our team. This role involves assisting the COO with daily operations and contributing to long-term projects focused on enhancing the overall management of the Division's Other-Than-Personnel Services Budget. This internship provides an exceptional opportunity to engage in business analysis and management support, delivering comprehensive solutions to real-world challenges within a governmental organization. As part of the 2026 ACS Summer Internship Program cohort, you will partake in a rich enrichment program designed to immerse students in the ACS and NYC government experience, featuring professional development workshops, lunch and learns, speaker events, NYC government tours, and valuable networking opportunities.
