Crisis Group is excited to offer an enriching internship opportunity for motivated individuals eager to enhance their writing abilities and gain practical insights into the strategies used by a policy organization in managing social media communications. As an Online Communications Intern, you will have the chance to observe, engage in, and provide constructive feedback on our processes as part of our dynamic communications team. This full-time, unpaid internship is set for a duration of 6 months, commencing in March 2026 and concluding in September 2026.
During your internship, you will gain hands-on experience through a variety of tasks, including:
Assisting in the creation of engaging content for our social media platforms (X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky);
Designing templated graphics and aiding in the distribution of visual content across Crisis Group's social media channels;
Uploading reports, briefings, commentaries, and additional articles to our website;
Crafting mass emails for our various publications;
Supporting the media team in compiling daily press reviews;
Participating in strategy calls with field analysts to facilitate the launch of new publications;
Engaging in daily and weekly communications team meetings;
Providing general assistance to the communications team.
This internship is ideal for individuals passionate about online communications and seeking a comprehensive understanding of various conflict-affected regions, while developing clear and concise writing skills and learning how a policy organization formulates its communication strategies.
Our Communications team is located in Brussels, Belgium. Internships are exclusively available to students who are part of academic or sponsored programs, such as those who can integrate the internship for academic credit or have secured external funding, like grants or scholarships, to support themselves during the internship.
