KXTV, the TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate in Sacramento, CA, is on the lookout for a dynamic Morning Executive Producer to lead our talented team of producers, anchors, and reporters. The ideal candidate will bring prior television leadership experience, a strong commitment to excellence, and a passion for mentoring team members. Our goal is growth and innovation, and we seek a leader who shares this vision. As the Morning Executive Producer, you will collaborate closely with the team to craft engaging newscasts for both linear and streaming platforms, while exploring creative avenues to deliver audience-centric content that meets our community's needs.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement long-term newsroom strategies
• Train, mentor, and support newsroom staff in utilizing innovative production tools across all platforms
• Oversee the editorial process for morning and midday broadcasts on television, streaming, and digital platforms, including vertical video
• Ensure effective execution of on-air and streaming content, providing coaching and showcasing techniques
• Review and approve scripts, providing writing and copy editing to maintain accuracy and quality
• Source and recruit exceptional journalism talent
• Coordinate comprehensive coverage, from breaking news to enterprise stories and specials
• Ensure all news coverage aligns with our brand values, policies, and FCC regulations
• Direct newsroom operations and manage scheduling
• Collaborate with newsroom management to set goals and enhance our local brand
• Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and weekends
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field
• Proven experience as a news producer and in a leadership role within a newsroom
• Strong track record of ethical journalism and decision-making
• Passion for nurturing talent and fostering a creative, collaborative newsroom environment
• Ability to remain composed during live broadcasts and rapidly evolving news events
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
