What’s the Overview?
The Merchandising Intern will support the Merchandising team throughout an immersive 8-week internship program. This role involves assisting with diverse product categories and tasks, while providing administrative support and gaining exposure to the entire product creation process. This includes Design, Merchandising, Development, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Color, and Demand Planning. By the end of the program, the intern will conceptualize and present a unique merchandising project centered on one or two selected categories, such as apparel, headwear, or bags.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct competitive and market research, compiling findings into reference spreadsheets and visually engaging presentations.
- Assist with various merchandising projects, including market mood/fabric boards and identifying product assortment gaps and opportunities.
- Support the merchant team in developing seasonal line plans through research on fashion trends, historical business analysis, styling recommendations, pricing, and more.
- Prepare samples for merchant presentations, customer visits, and management meetings.
- Perform various administrative tasks as assigned to support the department.
- Shadow team members and assist with their tasks as needed.
- Engage in intern cohort activities, which include professional development workshops, warehouse tours, and meetings with leadership.
- Assist in preparing correspondence, reports, and other written materials.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
- Adhere to all company policies and standards.
Desired Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Merchandising, or a related field.
- Exemplary attention to detail along with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- A keen enthusiasm for learning and a professional drive.
- Ability to follow directions and assimilate information efficiently.
- Strong administrative competencies, including excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive in responding to team needs with professionalism, respect, and consideration.
