The Thorlabs Ultrafast Optoelectronics (UFO) division based in Ann Arbor focuses on creating high-speed photonics components and instrumentation. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and testing cutting-edge optomechanical solutions. Your projects will involve evaluating hermetic, thermal, and stress properties, alongside comprehensive documentation, vendor management, prototyping, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Develop advanced optomechanical solutions for components and instrumentation independently.
- Create thorough documentation for parts within optomechanical solutions.
- Conduct testing and analysis of components according to established validation plans and interpret results.
- Influence design decisions in collaboration with senior engineers.
- Lead the development of advanced fixturing solutions for both development and production phases.
- Mentor junior engineers in best practices for design and documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date mechanical design documentation and create assembly and testing instructions.
- Support production teams in troubleshooting technical issues.
