Join the Ingram Marine Group Team! We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Material Handler & Hydraulic Machine Operator at our terminal in Granite City, IL. As a River Terminal Crane Operator 1, you will play a vital role in the efficient and safe operation of material handling equipment, including Sennebogen machines, to facilitate the transfer of materials at our river terminal. Your responsibilities will include assisting in cargo loading and unloading, inventory management, and ensuring a seamless workflow throughout terminal operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate material handlers to load and unload cargo with precision.
- Assist in transferring cargo to and from vessels, trucks, and rail cars.
- Utilize terminal equipment, including conveyors, to enhance operational efficiency.
- Help in managing barge covers, including resetting and removing them as required.
- Collaborate with the rail car loading team and truck drivers for effective communication.
- Conduct routine checks on equipment, complete daily checklists, and report any maintenance needs.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a secure working environment.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety in all work areas including docks, warehouses, and storage zones.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and vessel crew to facilitate smooth operations.
- Assist in inventory tasks, including cargo tracking and reporting discrepancies.
- Perform general labor tasks such as cleaning, sorting, and organizing materials and tools.
- Adapt to varying weather conditions while maintaining physical stamina throughout shifts.
- Complete any other reasonable tasks as assigned.
