Join Carfair Composites as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician, where you will play a crucial role in enhancing our manufacturing operations. With a starting pay of $25.00 per hour, you will be part of a company recognized for its innovation in fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) design and composites technology. Our facilities span across locations in Canada and the United States, including Gillett, WI.
POSITION SUMMARY:
In this role, you will support various Manufacturing Engineering initiatives at our Gillett site, focusing on enhancing production efficiency, health and safety (HSE) standards, quality, and Lean manufacturing practices. You will provide hands-on technical assistance to our production team and work collaboratively to achieve operational goals. Your work hours will typically be Monday to Thursday, from 3 AM to 1:30 PM, with overtime as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process-related issues in production.
2. Contribute to projects aimed at improving production metrics, HSE practices, and product quality.
3. Collaborate with Lean resources, maintenance, production, and quality teams to meet benchmarks.
4. Liaise with suppliers regarding equipment and quality concerns.
5. Actively participate as a team member, pursuing goals and implementing corrective actions.
6. Engage in Lean manufacturing initiatives (e.g., 5S, value stream mapping, setup reduction).
7. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
8. Stay updated on industry trends and production technologies to innovate our manufacturing processes.
9. Serve as a communication bridge between engineering and the production floor.
10. Relay customer change notices to the production team and address discrepancies.
11. Execute minor fixture adjustments and perform tasks related to first article inspections.
12. Use hand measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers for precision measurements.
13. Undertake additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A strong technical background with hands-on expertise.
• Post-secondary education is preferred; eligibility for CET or P. Eng designation is a plus.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team.
• Familiarity with 3D modeling is an asset.
• Proficient in using computers, mobile devices, and essential measurement tools.
• Knowledge of MS Office applications.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
