The Role
As the head of Evidence Action’s newly established In-Line Chlorination Innovation Team under the Safe Water Now Program, you will play a crucial role in enhancing access to safe drinking water across Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, and India through water chlorination. Supported by rigorous research that indicates chlorination can decrease child mortality by over 20%, our safe water initiatives represent some of the most cost-effective health interventions globally.
The latest intervention, In-Line Chlorination (ILC), automatically treats water as it flows through piped systems, requiring less behavior change from end users than traditional methods. As ILC expands, pivotal questions remain regarding optimizing device performance, minimizing operational costs, and enhancing community engagement. Effectively addressing these questions will determine the scalability and cost-effectiveness of ILC, enabling it to reach millions more individuals. Evidence Action is committed to investing in a dedicated Innovation team to uncover those solutions.
In this role, based in Mbale, Uganda, you will recruit and develop a specialized team, conducting rapid field pilots to evaluate the most promising enhancements to the ILC model. Where pilots demonstrate success, you will ensure these innovations are integrated across our portfolio and into future regions. This position exists at the intersection of Evidence Action's Uganda country team, the Regional team in Kenya, and the Global team in the United States.
