POSITION SUMMARY
As the Logistics and Transportation Manager, you will take charge of planning, organizing, and supervising both domestic and international logistics and transportation operations. This includes the management of outbound wholesale purchase order (PO) shipments for our key strategic clients. Your role will provide essential operational oversight and execution management in collaboration with third-party logistics (3PL) partners while directly interacting with customer logistics systems.
You will manage inbound and outbound freight across various transportation modes, including LTL, TL, parcel (non-customer), and international air/ocean. Additionally, you'll ensure that wholesale shipments are scheduled, documented, and executed according to customer routing guides, transportation systems, and service standards. As the Logistics and Transportation Manager, you'll be accountable for freight expenditures, KPI performance, and seamless coordination with warehouse operations to guarantee accurate and timely order fulfillment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)
Outbound Wholesale & Strategic Customer Shipments
- Oversee outbound wholesale PO shipments for key strategic customers.
- Utilize customer TMS systems to efficiently schedule freight, select carriers, and confirm pickup appointments.
- Create and maintain packing lists, trailer breakdowns, and SAR (shipment authorization/request) documentation utilized by warehouse teams for pallet building and freight staging.
- Ensure shipment documentation is consistent with customer routing guides, PO specifications, and service expectations.
- Act as the primary logistics liaison connecting customers, 3PL partners, and our internal warehouse teams.
Transportation & 3PL Oversight
- Manage daily transportation execution through 3PL partners for both domestic and international freight while coordinating with international forwarders and brokers for shipment execution and documentation.
- Oversee inbound and outbound shipments across LTL, TL, parcel (non-customer), and international air/ocean modes.
- Ensure that transportation activities comply with defined Incoterms and company policies.
- Serve as an escalation point for addressing transportation service failures, delays, and claims.
Freight Spend & Performance Management
- Monitor and manage transportation costs and freight expenditures against budget expectations.
- Review, validate, and approve freight invoices in collaboration with the Accounts Payable department.
- Track and report KPIs, including OTIF, cost per shipment, transit time, claims, and damage rates.
- Identify and implement initiatives for cost reduction and service enhancement.
Systems, Process & Continuous Improvement
- Actively engage as a hands-on user and functional owner of transportation systems and customer portals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across logistics processes.
