The City of Fort Worth's Park & Recreation Department is on the lookout for dynamic Literacy Support Specialists for our 2026 Camp Fort Worth and Mobile Recreation summer day camp programs. We seek individuals with a passion for literacy and the creativity to engage students in a stimulating environment. Your role will be pivotal in encouraging students to progress in their reading skills while having fun and reaching their educational milestones! Camp Fort Worth and Mobile Recreation operate in 21 community centers and 4 schools across Fort Worth.
We have several Literacy Support Specialist positions available; you will work up to 30 hours each week based on site and student requirements.
The Literacy and Reading Instruction Program integrated into Camp Fort Worth serves students aged 5 to 12 years.
- Attendance at pre-season orientation is mandatory, scheduled for June 1st – June 5th.
- The Camp Fort Worth summer program runs from June 8th – July 31st, with hours from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- The Mobile Recreation summer camp operates from June 8th – July 24th, with hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- This is a seasonal role with a limit of 30 hours per week (no benefits included).
- The Literacy Program incorporates 45 minutes of daily reading instruction, emphasizing six core practices: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and oral language development.
