Join our team as a passionate Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) specializing in Cardiology!
We are excited to welcome a dedicated LVT to collaborate with our newest addition, a Veterinary Cardiology Specialist. This part-time role is for two days a week, with the potential for full-time hours if interested in joining our ER team.
The Veterinary Cardiology Technician will work closely with the Veterinary Cardiologist to help diagnose and treat heart and circulatory conditions in animal patients. This role combines advanced technical expertise with compassionate care, focusing on cardiovascular health, diagnostic imaging, and meticulous patient monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care & Assessment
- Gather comprehensive patient histories, emphasizing cardiovascular signs and symptoms.
- Conduct thorough physical assessments, including heart rate, pulse quality, respiration, and blood pressure monitoring.
- Provide pre-, intra-, and post-procedural patient care and monitoring.
- Diagnostic Procedures
- Assist in the performance and interpretation of diagnostic tests such as ECGs, echocardiograms, radiographs, and blood pressure measurements.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment, including electrocardiograph machines and Doppler ultrasound devices.
- Collect and handle blood and other samples for laboratory analysis.
- Treatment Assistance
- Administer prescribed cardiac medications, monitoring patient reactions and documenting responses.
- Assist veterinary cardiologists with catheterizations and pacemaker placements.
- Provide anesthesia support during cardiac evaluations and procedures.
- Client Communication & Education
- Effectively communicate test results and treatment plans to clients under the veterinarian’s direction.
- Educate pet owners on medication administration, dietary needs, exercise recommendations, and ongoing heart health monitoring.
- Recordkeeping & Inventory
- Maintain detailed medical records and ensure the accuracy of diagnostic data and treatment notes.
- Manage cardiac medication and equipment inventory, ensuring proper function and calibration.
