We are seeking a dedicated Legal Counsel to join our Public Affairs & Regulatory team. Embedded within the broader Trust team, you will play a critical role in elevating the standards of online trust. Your work will involve a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring that consumers, businesses, regulators, and other external stakeholders can trust our platform’s content and our commitment to ethical practices.
Your principal focus will be to maintain Trustpilot’s esteemed reputation as a compliant platform while adeptly navigating the complexities of a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, review, and analyze new laws and regulations across various domains, including online safety, digital content, and consumer protection in our key markets such as the UK, EU, and US.
- Facilitate the seamless implementation of new legislative requirements and uphold regulatory obligations, providing legal support and analysis on an ad hoc basis.
- Identify and propose strategic enhancements grounded in a thorough understanding of Trustpilot’s products and operations, ensuring our offerings are trusted by customers and compliant with legal standards.
- Formulate independent, well-reasoned, and pragmatic recommendations based on comprehensive analysis of complex legal issues.
- Deliver succinct and actionable items for stakeholders, translating intricate legal and regulatory language into accessible external messaging to support diverse teams across the business.
- Foster an environment of 'Trust By Design' by offering effective guidance, support, and constructive challenge to product, design, and engineering teams.
- Assist the Public Affairs team with advocacy initiatives, including crafting consultation responses to regulators and policymakers, drafting amendments to legislative proposals, establishing policy positions on regulatory matters, and collaborating with industry membership groups.
