Our Water division is actively seeking an enthusiastic Senior Flood Modeller to become a key part of our innovative and rapidly expanding Water Business Line. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to prestigious, impactful projects throughout the UK and beyond while being situated at the core of one of the UK’s most ambitious engineering hubs.
In this position, you will serve as a senior technical resource, guiding junior team members and driving the development of our services offered to local authorities, water companies, and both private and public sector clients.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Creating and validating hydraulic models using tools such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS, and ICM to support the design of Flood Alleviation Schemes, execute Flood Risk Assessments, and conduct reservoir flood studies.
- Building water quality models (physico-chemical, biological, bacterial, or chemical) with industry-standard software like MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT, and/or ICM.
- Conceptualizing and outlining modelling methodologies while assessing associated risks and opportunities.
- Performing and reviewing hydrological evaluations in accordance with the Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2, and WINFAP.
- Leading and contributing to tenders for diverse projects, from innovative initiatives to multimillion-pound framework contracts.
- Mentoring colleagues to foster their professional growth.
- Establishing strong relationships with clients and collaborating with various technical disciplines.
- Staying informed about legislative developments and guidelines that may impact our services.
- Utilizing AECOM’s project management systems to deliver top-quality results within budget and on schedule.
- Collaborating closely with clients and teams of engineers and technical specialists to advance a wide array of fluvial, coastal, surface water, or drainage flood risk management initiatives.
