What You'll Do
Epic Games is seeking a Lead Animator to join our dynamic team working on Fortnite, focusing on developing Emote concepts and animations for a diverse array of IP partners and Epic Original Content. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of animation fundamentals and their connection to acting, rhythm, and game animation. A solid grasp of the Unreal editor, including animation implementation, is highly desirable.
In this role, you will
- Oversee and lead character-specific animations, including dances and emotes, utilizing Maya and Unreal with our ART tools set.
- Guide emotes from initial concept to animation and final implementation in Unreal Engine.
- Collaborate across various artistic disciplines within Epic, as well as with Vendor teams.
- Manage the expanding library of cosmetic animations and emotes offered to players, helping to shape the style and essence of Fortnite’s animation.
What we're looking for
- An animation reel showcasing key-framed character and creature animations.
- Extensive experience with Maya and gameplay systems such as Unreal Engine.
- Strong instincts for both realistic and stylized motions.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, along with relevant experience.
- Additional skills in modeling, skinning, and rigging.
- Experience working with motion capture data.
- Leadership experience with at least one shipped title.
- User-focused, passionate, solutions-oriented, and innovative approach.
