Role Overview
As an Intellectual Property (IP) and Permissions Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our intellectual property and ensuring strict compliance with copyright and permissions across our array of learning programs offered both in the UK and internationally. Your responsibilities will include managing an IP and assets register, conducting thorough audits of course materials, and facilitating third-party permissions requests to mitigate legal and reputational risks. Additionally, you will provide support and guidance to stakeholders, enhancing our internal IP policies, procedures, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee an IP and assets register for program materials and related assets.
- Perform audits on existing and new course content to verify ownership, licensing status, and proper utilization of third-party materials.
- Handle permissions requests from initiation to completion, including outreach, negotiations, follow-ups, and maintaining documentation with relevant rights holders.
- Ensure accurate and organized records of permissions, licenses, usage restrictions, and supporting evidence within approved systems.
- Monitor and report on the status of audits, permissions requests, and emerging copyright risks or potential infringements.
- Escalate material risks and issues with clear recommendations and supporting rationale.
- Advise stakeholders on copyright, permissions, and compliant content sourcing.
- Promote a culture of IP awareness and compliance through feedback, process enhancements, and documentation updates.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of IP-related policies, procedures, templates, and reference materials.
- Collaborate with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure timely approvals and alignment on permissions and content usage decisions.
