As a Mortgage Field Services Inspector, you can earn a reliable supplemental or full-time income while enjoying a flexible schedule that you dictate. This role involves conducting residential occupancy verifications through brief exterior property visits to ascertain the status and report on the general conditions of properties.
- Autonomy: You have the freedom to manage your own routing, scheduling, and geographic territory.
- Efficiency: Standard inspections are designed for speed, typically requiring only 5–6 minutes on-site.
- Consistency: Benefit from stable month-to-month volumes in your designated county.
- Assess property occupancy status using industry-standard indicators.
- Take 9+ photographs and submit concise reports via industry-standard mobile applications.
- Maintain high reliability in covering your territory and meeting deadlines.
- Note: This position necessitates spending considerable time driving and making multiple stops throughout the day within your assigned area.
As an independent contractor, you are responsible for providing your own equipment, which includes:
- A reliable, fuel-efficient vehicle.
- A smartphone (Android or iPhone) capable of running mobile reporting applications.
- A computer with internet access and a printer.
- The ability to pass a standard background check.
- Strong time-management skills to meet deadlines without direct supervision.
- Flat-Rate Pay: This is a 1099 position where you earn a set fee for each completed inspection.
- Earning Potential: Efficient contractors can typically earn between $30–$40 per hour.
- Volume: Rates and inspection volumes vary by county; lower volume counties usually feature higher per-inspection rates, while higher volume counties provide more consistent daily work.
