About Shelter House
Shelter House has been a pillar of support for individuals facing homelessness in Fairfax County since 1981. Role Overview
As a Hypothermia Program Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective operation of our temporary Hypothermia program, running from November 15 through March 31. Your responsibilities will include setting up program spaces, transporting participants, conducting orientations, distributing meals, scheduling shower access, and addressing the needs of participants. You will also provide information on available resources, such as the Drop-In Day Program and Emergency Shelter, while meticulously recording and reporting participant data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the hypothermia program, ensuring a secure and welcoming atmosphere for all participants.
- Monitor participant safety and maintain accurate counts throughout shifts.
- Conduct regular safety walkthroughs of the facility.
- Organize and distribute cots and bedding after ensuring cleanliness.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the hypothermia area and storage spaces.
- Report critical incidents to the supervisor and complete necessary documentation.
- Provide support, problem-solving, and emergency interventions as needed.
- Engage in physical activities such as unloading donations and organizing supplies.
