Position Overview
As a Human Factors Engineer at Oklo, you will spearhead the development and execution of our Human Factors Engineering (HFE) program. This crucial position will ensure that HFE principles are thoroughly and effectively integrated into the design process. You will significantly influence human-system integration results, enhancing operational safety, reliability, and usability from the initial design stage through to deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and uphold Oklo’s HFE program, execution plans, and compliance strategies.
- Deliver insightful technical recommendations to both internal and external engineering design teams regarding human factors.
- Guarantee the systematic incorporation of human factors principles into the engineering design process to foster safe, intuitive, and efficient human-system interactions across all project phases.
- Participate in both internal and external design reviews, providing HFE assessments and advocating for human-centered design and operational enhancements.
- Evaluate and propose enhancements for plant layouts, user interfaces, procedures, and other human-system interfaces. Assist in developing specifications that reflect human capabilities and constraints.
- Document operator and technician requirements, functional tasks, and system use necessities through task analysis, workload assessments, and scenario modeling.
- Plan and execute HFE verification and validation activities, including staffing studies and human-system interface usability evaluations, ensuring alignment with safety, licensing, and performance objectives.
- Coordinate efforts across engineering disciplines and liaise with external stakeholders (clients, partners, suppliers) to ensure cohesive system design, interface integration, and successful HFE implementation.
