Salary: £65,000 to £70,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
We offer a hybrid work model, allowing you to work from home two days a week after the induction period, subject to business requirements.
Reports to: Head of People
Direct reports: 2 HR Business Partners, Disability Officer.
Location: Harlow, Essex, conveniently located for commuters from London Liverpool Street and Tottenham Hale Station. We provide a complimentary minibus service to and from Harlow Town Train Station, along with free on-site parking and electric vehicle charging.
About the Role:
As the HR Manager, you will spearhead your team in delivering strategic support across all facets of people management, ensuring HR acts as a proactive partner, trusted advisor, and supportive ally to business leaders. You will serve as the primary expert, guaranteeing compliance and progressive practices in all HR policies and decisions.
In your capacity as Deputy to the Head of People, you will contribute to the development and execution of our people strategy, advocating for a workplace culture that values respect, openness, and inclusivity—embodying our ethos: “Together, we create a respectful, open, and inclusive environment where everyone works as a team to make a positive difference.”
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the HR function in senior management forums, overseeing critical projects and decisions as Deputy to the Head of People.
- Position HR as a data-driven strategic advisor, proactively identifying people-related risks and opportunities to shape workforce planning, organizational design, and change initiatives.
- Oversee the People Policy framework, ensuring all policies are current, accessible, aligned with best practices, and consistently applied across the organization.
- Monitor upcoming legislative and regulatory changes, including employment law updates, data protection regulations, and family-friendly provisions.
- Manage high-risk and complex employee relations cases, ensuring quality assurance.
- Build strong, positive relationships with Executive Committee members, Heads, and People Managers, offering coaching and constructive feedback to enhance performance, engagement, and well-being.

- Lead a portfolio of strategic HR projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and to the highest standards.
