Role Overview:
The Housing Stabilization Specialist serves as a vital client advocate, engaging in housing stabilization activities aimed at preserving tenancy for families that have successfully transitioned into permanent housing across Massachusetts. This role involves monthly outreach to families and landlords and participation in tenancy preservation activities as necessary.
The position mandates regular on-site presence at designated housing hubs and assigned shelter locations throughout Massachusetts, necessitating travel to various client locations during working hours.
The specialist will focus on supporting families and individuals to meet their unique needs for maintaining long-term housing success. They will facilitate housing initiatives that encompass medical resources, educational progress, and connections to additional services as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Execute housing stabilization activities to ensure tenancy preservation for families transitioning from CCA-supported family shelters into permanent housing.
- Exhibit integrity and empathy while working collaboratively with passion, commitment, and honesty for the benefit of colleagues and families.
- Perform a minimum of monthly outreach to families.
- Conduct monthly outreach to landlords.
- Facilitate communication between clients and landlords.
- Intervene proactively to prevent tenancy loss.
- Advocate for clients in housing court as necessary.
- Continuously assess the evolving needs of clients and families.
- Assist clients in accessing medical care.
- Monitor educational progress for children in the family.
- Document and update stabilization plans in the ETO online platform as needed.
- Track progress through ETO touchpoints.
- Collaborate with case managers and housing navigation liaisons to ensure seamless family support transitions.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
