About the job
Join our team as a Functional Specialist, where you will play a crucial role in assisting the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in making vital decisions regarding individuals' health and care needs.
This position is ideal for healthcare professionals seeking a shift away from direct patient care. Whether you are a nurse looking to enhance your assessment skills or a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, or paramedic eager to apply your expertise in a unique context, this role allows you to leverage your compassion and experience to provide significant clinical insights. You will engage with claimants to understand how their health conditions and disabilities impact their daily lives.
We prioritize your professional growth with extensive training and dedicated self-development time, ensuring you are well-prepared for this distinctive role.
If you're seeking a change that offers regular working hours, a competitive salary, and the opportunity to broaden your skills, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting initial assessments—whether paper-based, face-to-face, via video, or telephone—to evaluate the impact of claimants' health conditions or disabilities on their everyday activities.
- Observing and documenting individuals' capabilities in daily tasks.
- Analysing and interpreting clinical data and supporting evidence.
- Crafting comprehensive reports of 3,000 to 4,000 words based on the evidence collected for each claimant, with a maximum of three reports per day.
- Providing detailed evidence and justification to assist the DWP's decision-making process.
- Expanding your clinical knowledge and understanding conditions that may be less familiar to you.
- This is a hybrid role with a combination of home-based work and assignments at your nearest assessment centre on a rota basis for in-person assessments.
