As a Preschool Teacher at Seagull Schools Inc, you play a pivotal role in shaping the early development of children. You will create a nurturing and safe environment, develop and implement age-appropriate curricula, and collaborate closely with families to support each child's growth. This role reports directly to the Center Director or Teacher-in-Charge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with NAEYC Accreditation Standards and practices.
- Educational Development:
- Craft and execute age-appropriate lesson plans that align with educational standards.
- Encourage physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth through play-based and hands-on learning activities.
- Classroom Management:
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that fosters learning.
- Utilize positive reinforcement and appropriate disciplinary methods to manage student behavior.
- Train and evaluate assistant teachers, aides, and volunteers constructively.
- Maintain a clear substitute teacher plan for times of absence.
- Assist with training in toileting and diapering tasks in age-appropriate classrooms.
- Act as a role model for assistants and aides.
- Child Development:
- Observe and assess children's developmental milestones and learning progress.
- Provide tailored support for children with varying abilities or special needs.
- Parent Communication:
- Keep open lines of communication with parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress and address any concerns.
- Prepare and share progress reports; participate in parent-teacher meetings.
- Utilize Seagull Schools' approved communication software for regular updates to families.
- Health and Safety:
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of children.
- Oversee indoor and outdoor activities to prevent injuries.
- Instruct children on hygiene practices such as handwashing and tidiness.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work in collaboration with teaching assistants, educators, and administrators.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training as required.
- Creative Engagement:
- Foster creativity through art, music, storytelling, and dramatic play.
- Encourage curiosity and exploration to develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate attendance records and documentation of children’s progress.
- Prepare compliance and administrative reports as required.
- Keep children’s record files organized.
- Contact parents when a child is absent for more than two days.
- Provide constructive feedback and conduct evaluations for assistant teachers and aides.
