Join our dedicated team at Frederick Health as a Full-Time Registered Nurse in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This role involves working the night shift from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, totaling 72 hours every two weeks, with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week. Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as required.
Position Overview:
Our Level III NICU is equipped to care for critically ill newborns, including those with extremely low birth weights and gestational ages as low as 24 weeks, weighing as little as 500 grams. Our 30-bed unit typically provides care for around 10 babies daily, offering a diverse mix of acuity levels.
As an RN, you will independently deliver high-quality patient care, utilizing the nursing process while also undertaking leadership and educational responsibilities to enhance patient outcomes. You will actively engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives and adhere to state and federal regulations and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' biophysical, psychosocial, and educational needs in accordance with nursing standards.
- Utilize your expertise to identify patient needs, prioritize treatments, and effectively document and communicate changes in patient conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on nursing diagnoses, integrating resources from family, caregivers, and community agencies.
- Organize and prioritize patient care, seeking assistance as necessary to meet individual patient needs.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and nursing standards while documenting nursing interventions and patient responses accurately and promptly.
- Maintain open communication with patients and healthcare team members, keeping families informed about patient status and care plans.
