Opportunity Overview
Contributors will engage in various unique tasks, including:
- Crafting original computational statistics problems that emulate genuine mathematical research workflows.
- Developing problems that necessitate Python programming for resolution (utilizing Numpy, SciPy, Sympy).
- Ensuring that tasks are computationally demanding, requiring extended timeframes for resolution (days or weeks).
- Creating problems that involve complex reasoning in fields such as number theory, combinatorics, graph theory, and numerical analysis.
- Formulating problems based on real-world research challenges or practical mathematical applications.
- Validating solutions using Python with established mathematical libraries.
- Providing clear documentation for problem statements and verified solutions.
Qualifications Required
This role is ideal for statistics experts with Python experience who are open to part-time, non-permanent engagements. Preferred qualifications include:
- A degree in Statistics or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation; familiarity with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or any domain-specific libraries is also acceptable.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in applied fields, research, or teaching.
- Strong command of written English (C1 level or higher).
- Professional certifications (e.g., CMME, SAS Certifications, CAP) and experience in international or applied projects will be considered advantages.
