Key Responsibilities
Franchise Agreements & Documentation
- Draft, review, and negotiate franchise disclosure documents (FDDs), franchise agreements, and associated contracts.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to federal and state franchise regulations.
Legal Advisory & Compliance
- Provide expert legal advice on franchise structures, compliance, and operational challenges.
- Stay updated on changes in franchise regulations and proactively inform clients of potential impacts.
- Conduct thorough due diligence for potential franchise transactions.
Risk Management & Dispute Resolution
- Assist in resolving franchise disputes through negotiation, mediation, or litigation support.
- Identify risks within franchise operations and recommend preventive measures.
Client Support & Collaboration
- Act as a trusted advisor, aligning legal requirements with clients' business objectives.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to create clear and effective legal strategies.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Comprehensive knowledge of franchise law with practical experience in FDDs and franchise agreements.
- Strong grasp of U.S. franchise regulations and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to simplify complex legal issues.
- Proactive and detail-oriented approach with a focus on client satisfaction.
Required Experience & Skills
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and an active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
- 3+ years of experience in franchise law, commercial law, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience in compliance, structuring, and dispute resolution in franchise matters.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver timely, precise legal assistance.
Typical Workday
Your day will primarily involve reviewing franchise agreements and disclosure documents, preparing compliance reports, and advising clients on franchise operations. You will participate in client calls to provide guidance on structuring and expansion strategies.
