DCWP is actively seeking a seasoned and results-driven professional to take on the role of First Deputy Commissioner as part of our Executive team, which includes the Commissioner, First Deputy Commissioner, and Chief of Staff. The First Deputy Commissioner will provide visionary leadership and operational guidance to the heads of five major divisions: Administration (Finance, Human Resources, and General Services); Office of Financial Empowerment; Field Enforcement; Licensing; and the Division of Technology and Strategic Solutions. This role will require close collaboration with all DCWP divisions, other city agencies, and partners across various levels of government. Reporting directly to the Commissioner, the ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional project management, relationship management, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Acting as DCWP's Chief Operating Officer.
- Overseeing the daily operations of the agency.
- Offering strategic advice and recommendations to the Executive Team.
- Collaborating effectively with the Senior Leadership Team on program management, budgeting, procurement, legislative affairs, law implementation, program development, information technology, data management, personnel issues, and all operational aspects.
- Supervising staff to encourage teamwork and collaboration, maintaining open communication regarding agency priorities, maximizing employee strengths, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Cultivating and managing relationships across DCWP divisions, with city agencies, internal and external stakeholders, and representing DCWP in public speaking engagements and media interactions, including public education events and City Council hearings.
