Fire Protection Engineer, EHS

Position Overview:
The Fire/Life Safety Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting Design and Construction initiatives while leading the Operations & Maintenance team. You will ensure that our Fire Alarm Systems (FAS), Fire Protection Systems (FPS), and Hazardous Gas Monitoring Systems (HGMS) are fully operational and compliant with relevant codes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, detail, and document the protective systems safeguarding our facilities and workforce. This includes developing testing and maintenance protocols that align with NFPA, AHJ, and insurance carrier standards, as well as conducting on-site quality assurance to ensure compliance with our expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create maintenance and operational procedures for FPS/FAS/HGMS systems to comply with NFPA and AHJ codes.
- Collaborate with technicians and service providers to address deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
- Leverage the CMMS to plan and schedule work in conjunction with the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Design training programs for technicians and work with Supervisors to assess skills and develop training plans.
- Assess insourcing versus outsourcing opportunities to optimize cost without compromising quality.
- Maintain programming for FAS and PLC systems.
- Provide support for new fabrication designs and retrofits to ensure compliance with safety codes.
- Partner with third-party design vendors to review conceptual and ongoing designs for adherence to standards and local codes.
- Develop strong relationships with AHJ and insurance providers.
- Collaborate with site EHS and Risk Management teams to proactively identify and resolve safety issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision, ensuring a safe work environment across all site activities.
