As a FinCrime Operations Investigator, your expertise will be vital in protecting Wise and its customers from financial crime. In this role, you will investigate and analyze customer accounts, transactions, and activities on our platform to identify and mitigate risks related to money laundering, fraud, and other illicit activities. You will apply your skills to detect suspicious patterns, execute detailed investigations, and ensure compliance with AML/CTF regulations and internal policies, all while adhering to Wise’s risk appetite. Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough investigations of potentially suspicious activities, utilizing both internal and external data sources.
- Analyze complex financial transactions and customer patterns to detect signs of money laundering, fraud, or other financial crimes.
- Evaluate alerts generated by transaction monitoring systems and other detection tools.
- Collect and scrutinize supporting documentation, including KYC data, transaction records, and other relevant information.
- Examine data to identify patterns and risks associated with financial crime, assisting the team in making informed decisions based on analytical insights.
- Draft detailed investigation reports that document findings and recommendations.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex FinCrime cases from other operations teams, providing expert guidance.
- Mentor and train team members on best practices and techniques for FinCrime investigations.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to enhance fraud detection rules, processes, and system improvements.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, typologies, and regulatory changes in FinCrime.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including compliance, legal, and customer support teams.
- Engage with financial institutions and law enforcement agencies as required.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives focused on FinCrime prevention and detection.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all investigations and related activities.
- Contribute to process improvement discussions and backlog exercises.
- Complete all mandatory, refresher, or ad-hoc training assigned by the company promptly and diligently.
- Ensure clear, professional, and empathetic communication with customers through approved channels to gather necessary details or clarifications for reviews, always maintaining high customer experience standards.
