About the job
Reporting to the Regional Director, the External Sales Representative will collaborate closely with the management team and be responsible for sourcing scrap metal products from dealers and inter-company transactions. This role requires a proactive and dynamic individual who can build and maintain extraordinary business relationships with both new and existing clients. The candidate must work closely with company staff and departments as well as clients and suppliers.
- Procure scrap metal to meet or exceed tonnage targets while optimizing profit margins;
- Visit dealers and industrial suppliers, either by phone or in person, to promote new and repeat business, provide pricing, offer customer service, respond to inquiries, handle complaints, and foster strong relationships;
- Engage in prospecting new clients: visit individuals and small businesses (door-to-door);
- Develop a reliable network of contacts that provide up-to-date information regarding buying/selling prices and trends in local and regional markets;
- Negotiate new contracts with clients;
- Conduct P&L analysis;
- Utilize knowledge of sorting and processing operations to make decisions that optimize pricing;
- Coordinate with administrative staff and the sales team to ensure accurate and timely documentation of all purchasing transactions;
- Provide feedback and recommendations on scrap metal prices for projects operated by AIM;
- Complete special projects as assigned;
- Coach team members;
- Spend 80% of the time on the road and 20% in the office;
- Perform any other related duties.
