SGS is actively seeking qualified Ex-Certified Inspectors (IECEx Ex01-Ex04) for various locations across the USA. Assignments will be allocated as needed, and compensation will be provided for the hours and days worked, along with any applicable expenses incurred during the assignment. Engagement duration may vary from a single day to several weeks.
The selected inspectors will be required to enter into an independent contractor/sub-contractor agreement (1099) with SGS North America Inc. While hours are not guaranteed, being part of our roster ensures you will be prioritized for opportunities as they arise.
We are looking for experienced Ex-Certified Inspectors to conduct inspections, validate, and ensure compliance with explosion-protected (Ex) electrical and mechanical equipment in hazardous (classified) environments. Ideal candidates should possess certification in hazardous area inspections (e.g., IECEx, CompEx, or equivalent) and a comprehensive understanding of NEC, NFPA, and OSHA standards applicable in the United States.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections on explosion-proof and intrinsically safe equipment in hazardous locations.
- Ensure compliance with:
- NEC (National Electrical Code) Articles 500–516
- NFPA standards
- OSHA regulations
- Relevant IECEx / ATEX standards if applicable
- Carry out initial, periodic, and detailed inspections according to established schedules.
- Review engineering drawings, hazardous area classifications, and installation documents.
- Identify non-conformities and suggest corrective measures.
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and maintain compliance documentation.
- Assist in audits, regulatory reviews, and safety investigations.
- Provide technical advice to maintenance and engineering teams.
- Ensure all work adheres to company safety protocols.
