AECOM is seeking a proactive and dedicated Environmental Engineer, or a professional from a related field such as chemical or civil engineering, to join our Greenville, SC team. This role is pivotal in supporting our Environmental business line, primarily focusing on Department of Defense initiatives while also engaging in private sector projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Utilizing your expertise in natural sciences including chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics to analyze environmental observations.
- Overseeing subcontractors, including laboratories and companies involved in excavation and drilling.
- Investigating contaminants and devising strategies for environmental restoration.
- Preparing technical documents ranging from basic reports to complex scientific studies.
- Demonstrating excellent technical writing skills for reports and analyses.
- Conducting fieldwork independently with minimal supervision.
- Guiding junior staff in task execution.
- Reviewing analytical data to ensure quality control in routine analyses.
- Coordinating efforts with project managers and on-site subcontractors to support sampling, data gathering, and field documentation.
- Providing technical expertise as required.
- Gaining a deep understanding of hazard recognition and environmental investigation/remediation practices.
- Traveling to various job sites across the United States.
- Maintaining a flexible approach to work on a variety of projects while upholding a commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Applying fundamental scientific principles and current technologies to develop solutions for defined technical challenges.
- Preparing technical work plans and comprehensive reports.
- Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Planning, executing, analyzing, and reporting environmental measures in natural systems.
- Employing standard field practices and techniques using basic equipment to collect soil, groundwater, and surface water samples, preparing them for shipping, and completing necessary documentation.
