About the job
Are you seeking more than a job? If you aspire to embark on a rewarding career that serves our nation and protects its citizens, consider joining the U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) as an Entry Level Border Patrol Agent (BPA).
USBP is actively recruiting for full-time, entry-level positions in federal law enforcement. This role is perfect for individuals with previous experience in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement. Work alongside a distinguished team of dedicated professionals who take pride in their mission to safeguard America.
Now is the perfect time to take action! Alongside competitive base salaries, outstanding benefits, and job security, USBP is offering up to $60,000 in extra incentives (details below).
Salary and Benefits
Annual base salary for newly appointed BPAs ranges from GL-5 to GL-7, with earnings between $51,632 and $92,219 per year. Border Patrol Agents can choose from a range of federal employment benefits, including health and dental insurance, generous annual and sick leave, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, which functions similarly to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentive
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents may be eligible for up to $20,000 in incentives. The first $10,000 is awarded upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy, with the remaining $10,000 for accepting a position in prioritized locations such as Sierra Blanca, Presidio, Sanderson, Comstock, Freer, or Hebbronville, TX; Lordsburg, NM; or Ajo, AZ.
Retention Incentive
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents can also qualify for up to $40,000 in retention incentives over their initial four years.
Duty Locations
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Duty assignments may include the Southwest Border and prioritized locations. USBP will determine duty assignments based on operational needs, and RELOCATION MAY BE REQUIRED.
The duty location can affect pay rates, with locality pay for federal law enforcement being higher in some areas. A fully trained BPA may be eligible for an additional 25% of base pay per the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with grade level progression from GL-5 to GL-12.
