Salary and Benefits
As a newly appointed BPA, your annual base salary will range from $51,632 to $92,219 depending on your grade level (GL-5/GL-7). Our agents enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and other insurance options, generous leave, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, similar to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentives
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents can receive up to $20,000 in incentives, with $10,000 awarded upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy and an additional $10,000 for accepting positions in prioritized locations.
Retention Incentives
In addition, agents may qualify for up to $40,000 in retention incentives over the first four years of service.
Duty Locations
Be prepared for duty assignments at the Southwest Border, which may necessitate relocation. Note that duty locations can impact pay rates, with locality pay for federal law enforcement varying by location. Fully trained BPAs may also be eligible for up to an additional 25% of their base pay. The career path includes advancement opportunities through various grade levels (GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, GS-11, GS-12).
