The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is actively recruiting dedicated individuals for full-time, entry-level Border Patrol Agent (BPA) positions in federal law enforcement. Salary and Benefits Overview
Newly appointed BPAs are offered an annual base salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,219, depending on the grade level (GL-5/GL-7). Additionally, USBP provides a competitive benefits package, including health, dental, and other insurance plans, as well as generous annual and sick leave. Employees can also participate in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan similar to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentives
New BPAs may qualify for up to $20,000 in recruitment incentives, with the first $10,000 awarded upon successfully completing the Border Patrol Academy. The remaining $10,000 is contingent upon accepting a position in prioritized locations such as Sierra Blanca, Presidio, or Ajo.
Retention Incentives
Newly appointed BPAs may also be eligible for retention incentives totaling up to $40,000 over their first four years.
Duty Locations
Please note that duty assignments may include locations along the Southwest Border, based on operational needs. Relocation may be necessary. A fully trained BPA has the potential to earn up to an additional 25% of base pay under the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with opportunities for advancement through various grade levels (GL-5 to GS-12).
