Salary and Benefits
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents can expect an annual base salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,219, depending on grade level (GL-5/GL-7). Our comprehensive benefits package includes health and dental insurance, generous leave policies, and the opportunity to participate in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement savings plan similar to a ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment and Retention Incentives
Newly appointed agents may be eligible for recruitment incentives up to $20,000, with $10,000 payable upon completion of the Border Patrol Academy and the remainder for accepting priority locations. Additionally, retention incentives may offer up to $40,000 over the first four years of service.
Duty Locations
Please note that duty assignments may include locations along the Southwest Border, and candidates may be required to relocate. The U.S. Border Patrol determines duty assignments based on operational needs, which may differ from candidate preferences. Fully trained BPAs may also qualify for up to 25% additional pay based on location. This position allows for career advancement through a structured grade level progression.
