Salary and Benefits
For newly appointed Border Patrol Agents, the annual base salary ranges depending on the grade level, specifically GL-5/GL-7, with salaries from $51,632 to $92,219 per year. You will have access to a comprehensive suite of federal employment benefits, including health, dental, and other insurance plans, a generous leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, similar to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentives
Newly appointed BPAs may qualify for up to $20,000 in incentives, with $10,000 awarded upon successfully completing the Border Patrol Academy and an additional $10,000 for accepting a position in prioritized locations such as Sierra Blanca or Lordsburg.
Retention Incentives
You may also be eligible for up to $40,000 in retention incentives over your first four years.
Duty Locations
Be advised that duty assignments may include the Southwest Border, with relocation required based on operational needs. Pay rates may vary by location, and fully trained BPAs can earn an additional 25% of base pay according to the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position, with potential for advancement through various grade levels up to GS-12.
