Salary and Benefits Overview:
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents can expect an annual base salary ranging from $51,632 to $92,219, depending on grade level (GL-5/GL-7). You will have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, generous annual and sick leave, and participation in a retirement plan similar to a ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentives:
New agents may qualify for up to $20,000 in incentives, with the first $10,000 awarded upon finishing the Border Patrol Academy and the remaining $10,000 for accepting a position in prioritized locations such as Sierra Blanca, Presidio, Sanderson, Comstock, Freer or Hebbronville, TX; Lordsburg, NM; or Ajo, AZ.
Retention Incentives:
Agents may also be eligible for up to $40,000 in additional incentives distributed over their first four years.
Duty Locations:
Please note that duty assignments are determined by USBP based on operational needs, which may not coincide with your preferences. Relocation may be necessary. Additionally, pay rates can vary based on duty locations, with potential for an extra 25% of base pay for fully trained BPAs due to the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with potential for progression through grades GL-5 to GS-12.
