Salary and Benefits:
Starting salaries for new BPAs range from $51,632 to $92,219 annually, based on grade level (GL-5/GL-7). Employees are eligible for a variety of federal benefits including health and dental insurance, generous leave policies, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, similar to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentives:
Newly appointed BPAs may qualify for up to $20,000 in incentives, with the first $10,000 awarded upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy. The remaining amount is available for those accepting positions in prioritized locations.
Retention Incentives:
Eligible BPAs can also receive up to $40,000 in additional incentives during their first four years.
Duty Locations:
Be advised that duty assignments will be determined based on operational needs and may require relocation. Locations may include the Southwest Border and other prioritized areas. A fully trained BPA can earn an additional 25% of base pay under the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This position offers a career ladder with potential for advancement through multiple grade levels up to GS-12.
