USBP is actively recruiting for full-time entry-level positions in federal law enforcement. Your background in public safety, security, military police, or law enforcement may qualify you for this role. Salary and Benefits
The annual base salary for newly appointed Border Patrol Agents varies by grade level, ranging from GL-5/GL-7 at $51,632 to $92,219. As a Border Patrol Agent, you can choose from a variety of federal employment benefits, including health and dental insurance, a generous leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, similar to a traditional ROTH 401(k) plan.
Recruitment Incentive
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents are eligible for incentives up to $20,000, with $10,000 awarded upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy and the remaining $10,000 for accepting a prioritized location.
Retention Incentive
You may also qualify for up to $40,000 in additional incentives over your first four years.
Duty Locations
Important Notice: Duty assignments at the time of offer may include the Southwest Border, with possible relocation required. U.S. Border Patrol determines duty assignments based on operational needs, which may differ from candidates' preferences. A fully trained BPA may be eligible for up to an additional 25% of their base pay per the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with opportunities for advancement through GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, GS-11, and GS-12 levels.
