The Supportive Programs and Initiatives (SPI) division, part of the Fair Fares program, is a Mayoral initiative aimed at subsidizing NYCT fares. This program is designed to offer accessible discounts on NYCT subways and eligible local bus services for low-income families receiving Cash Assistance or Supplemental Nutritional Assistance, as well as New York City residents living at or below the federal poverty line.
Under the guidance of the Enrollment Specialist Supervisor for Fair Fares, the Enrollment Specialist will play a crucial role in enrolling consumers at various walk-in locations across the city. Responsibilities include meeting with consumers, reviewing necessary documentation, accessing databases, and gathering relevant information to facilitate the enrollment and application process. The Enrollment Specialist will also be responsible for scanning all documents into the database.
This position involves handling highly sensitive documents, thus requiring a strong commitment to confidentiality and discretion. Key duties include answering inquiries and providing information regarding the program's discounts and requirements, ensuring completeness of consumer documents, navigating the enrollment database, maintaining equipment, and finalizing the consumer’s Fair Fares enrollment application packages.
We are currently seeking two (2) Community Associates to serve as Enrollment Specialists, who will perform the following tasks:
- Daily verification and enrollment of participant referrals through walk-in, electronic, and telephonic methods. Review consumer documents for completeness and ensure all necessary paperwork for the Fair Fares application process is in order while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
- Regularly review the Fair Fares database to ensure that all program consents are signed. Navigate the enrollment database; scan authenticated documents into the database; enter all relevant demographic and consumer information accurately to process completed applications.
- Finalize and submit complete Fair Fares applications for consumers, ensuring all necessary documents and information have been obtained. Notify consumers about any missing documentation and guide them on how to obtain official documents from local and state sources. Address any consumer questions and concerns efficiently.
