About the Role
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our expanding Engineering team. In this role, you will manage and mentor a small team while actively participating in architecture and technical strategy. As an early leader, you will significantly influence WorkWhile’s engineering culture, promote technical excellence, and contribute to our company-wide strategy as we scale. This position reports directly to our Head of Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee execution on essential product initiatives and outcomes—from defining technical direction to delivering high-quality user-facing features.
Act as a force multiplier, leading, managing, and developing a small team of engineers, while strategically hiring and evolving the team as we grow.
Collaborate with leadership to align engineering priorities with company-wide objectives and shape long-term product and technical strategies.
Promote engineering best practices and uphold code quality, system design, and technical decision-making, balancing coaching with hands-on involvement.
Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of experience managing engineering teams, with a proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talent, fostering a culture of ownership, learning, and impact.
Strong hands-on experience in delivering production software and familiarity with modern web technologies—React, TypeScript, Python/Flask, Postgres (or similar stacks).
Outstanding communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working across functional teams.
