THE JOB
As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you won’t just be an assistant; you will be a pivotal part of our team, helping to nurture future emergency veterinary stars. From day one, you will engage in triaging patients, supporting your team, and providing comfort to pet parents. You will be involved in every aspect of care, from triage to treatment, and embark on a journey where your career can flourish.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Provide a warm welcome and steady support as you triage incoming patients and guide them to the appropriate care.
- Assist in treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with our credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians for anesthesia and sedation cases.
- Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
- Support patient care in every setting: from outpatient to inpatient, and from the exam room to the treatment area.
- Join patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
- Learn CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided).
- Advance into more complex responsibilities as you grow.
