Join the Department of Social Services Accountability Office (DSS-AO) as an Eligibility Specialist III and play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of social services programs in New York City. As part of the Human Resources Administration (HRA), you will be instrumental in ensuring that individuals receive the public assistance they qualify for while preventing fraud and misuse.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a weekly caseload by reviewing and processing cases prepared by investigators, ensuring adherence to agency guidelines for confirming overpayment and eligibility for Food Stamp benefits.
- Conducting thorough verifications of case folders utilizing various systems such as the Welfare Management System (WMS) and the New York City Work Accountability and You (NYCWAY) to ensure accurate claims establishment.
- Analyzing claims calculations to determine necessary actions regarding budgeting or referral to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Claims and Recovery (SNAP-CR).
- Assessing continued eligibility for Food Stamps and calculating financial assistance amounts for Public Assistance.
- Preparing documentation for submission to SNAP-CR based on comprehensive reviews.
- Collaborating with your supervisor to discuss findings and any operational concerns.
- Completing daily activity reports detailing your processed actions.
- Undertaking additional related duties as assigned.
Work hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
