The EDI Coordinator will play a crucial role in identifying, establishing, and maintaining EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) partnerships for our U.S. accounts. By facilitating these data interchange systems across various platforms, we aim to enhance purchasing ease for our customers, positioning Thorlabs as their preferred vendor while improving the efficiency and accuracy of our quote to cash processes. While the position is primarily based in Newton, NJ, occasional travel to other Thorlabs locations or customer sites may be necessary to align our global EDI initiatives.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the development of our EDI strategy and driving the growth of punch-out customer activity year-over-year.
- Acting as the primary liaison, guiding customers through the establishment of electronic information exchanges with Thorlabs, conducting necessary testing, and facilitating effective communication with key personnel to ensure successful outcomes.
- Possessing comprehensive knowledge of various punch-out platforms utilized globally (e.g., Ariba, Jaggaer, Coupa) and understanding trading partner requirements alongside Thorlabs’ capabilities for efficient data transfer.
- Overseeing the configuration and mapping of EDI documents in close collaboration with trading partners, service providers/EDI providers, and internal teams.
- Proactively identifying opportunities for enhancement or improvement within existing EDI systems.
- Enhancing interactions with current trading partners.
- Analyzing existing processes to improve the quality of EDI transactions and related services, developing new solutions to streamline operations, and providing necessary technical support.
- Monitoring daily electronic information exchanges and effectively addressing any issues.
- Reviewing cXML to offer initial troubleshooting and resolution for failed data exchanges.
- Documenting customer requirements and partnerships in a central repository.
