What is the Role of a Mortgage Field Service Inspector?
Mortgage companies and banks are legally obligated to document the occupancy status and physical condition of all mortgaged properties. To fulfill this requirement, they employ Property Inspectors who visit the properties to capture specific images and assess whether the property is occupied or vacant. The inspector then reports the overall condition of the property through a mobile application.
Responsibilities of Mortgage Field Service Inspectors Include:
- Assessing whether a property is occupied or vacant.
- Evaluating the property's condition as Good, Fair, or Poor.
- Taking photographs of the property using your smartphone.
- Completing forms on your smartphone via a downloadable app.
- Responding to multiple-choice questions regarding the condition of the property.
Qualifications:
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Reliable transportation is essential (vehicles with good gas mileage are preferred).
- A smartphone (Android or iPhone) is required.
- A printer/scanner or convenient access to both is necessary.
- A desktop, laptop, or tablet is needed for printing forms.
Income Potential and Assignments:
Income varies based on region and workload. Most inspectors can complete several inspections each hour. Inspectors in rural areas may receive higher compensation per inspection. The faster inspections are conducted, the more assignments are available. This position operates on a 1099 contractor basis, with resumes not required.
