Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the operations of Surgical Services, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining 24-hour accountability.
• Manage the patient care environment, ensuring high standards of care and optimal staffing to deliver quality healthcare.
• Foster a patient-centered culture, participating in staff selection and implementing service structures.
• Engage in committee work, meetings, and initiatives aimed at enhancing clinical outcomes and expanding the service line.
• Promote and restore patients' health through effective management and long-term planning for surgical services; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams while providing necessary support to patients and their families.
• Act as a clinical resource for nursing staff, addressing complex cases and overseeing staffing during off-shifts.
• Represent administration by interpreting and enforcing policies across hospital departments.
• Consult with House Supervisors and other Directors on nursing challenges and hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met.
• Organize orientation and ongoing training for staff, contributing to educational programs.
• Collaborate with administrative staff to formulate and monitor the budget.
• Recommend the acquisition of both capital and minor equipment.
• Conduct studies aimed at enhancing service delivery.
• Develop, assess, implement, and update departmental policies and procedures.
• Manage work schedules and assign tasks to staff to ensure adequate service levels.
• Responsible for generating monthly statistics, quarterly reports, and yearly budgets.
